The purpose of this blog is to stay connected with my friends and family while I transition from Delaware to Maryland to Uganda and beyond. I'd like to use this forum to share my experiences and record my adventures while serving as an Economic Development Volunteer in the Peace Corps.

Up and Up

My counterpart went to the Pader post office the other day and said I have packages waiting for me there! So, that means that the mail that was sent to Lira while the Pader posta was closed has made it back!!! YAY! Keep those care packages coming! J My counterpart couldn’t pick them up because there’s a small handling fee to be paid, but I’ll head there as soon as I get back from my meeting in Kitgum next week. Thanks friends and fam in advance for the mail. It makes a huge difference.

Also, I got my first piece of furniture delivered yesterday. It’s beautiful and now gives me room to chop veggies and store all my food and dishes off the floor. Exciting stuff. My wardrobe should be finished sometime next week. I’ll post pics as soon as I get to fast internet.

I’m happy to say that my stomach issues have subsided with the help of Cipro. I made a great batch of English muffins that have made my week food-wise.

Tomorrow I leave for Kitgum where I’ll be until Thursday. The PCVs are holding a conference to share skills and give us an opportunity to hang out. Hope to learn a bit about grant writing and youth empowerment programs. If nothing else, it’s a chance to eat good food and drink cold beer (if there’s power that is).  Hope everyone is enjoying the cold weather!
